The Serial Passage of Hodgkin's Disease Tissue Extract in Chicken Eggs
[摘要] Serial passage in a total of 2700 chicken eggs of extracts (usually filtered) from 20 cases of Hodgkin's disease revealed a small but statistically significantly greater mean mortality of the chick embryos from that of control series injected with extracts from other types of tumors and tissues. This difference was demonstrated by the amniotic sac injection. The yolk sac injection did not reveal such a difference. No characteristic gross or microscopic lesions were noted. These findings suggest the presence of a filtrable and serially passable factor in the Hodgkin's disease lymph nodes which causes an increased mortality in chicken embryos. Further investigations are being carried out.
