Studies on the Radiosensitive Phase of the Antibody Response in Rabbits

[摘要] Macrophages from irradiated donors were shown to recovery the ability to induce antibody formation in normal recipients. Recovery took place within approximately 27 days, regardless of whether cells were transferred to recipients 5 days or 20 days after irradiation of donors.Irradiated recipients of sensitized macrophages formed no antibody during the first 21 days after cell transfer. These rabbits responded to challenge with BGG with what appeared to be a typical secondary response. Recipients of irradiated sensitized cells (750 r) responded in a similar manner. When recipients of sensitized macrophages had received 750 r rather than 450 r, there was neither a primary nor a secondary response.
