Local Plasmacytopoiesis in Delayed Hypersensitivity Reactions

[摘要] The cytologic features of delayed hypersensitivity reactions in the cornea revealed a vigorous plasmacytic response superimposed upon an initial “classic” delayed reaction. In hapten-specific delayed reactions (induced following systemic sensitization with azobenzenearsonate (ABA)-tyrosine conjugates by intracorneal injection of the hapten conjugated to a heterologous carrier protein), the plasmacytic response involved, in part, an accelerated primary reaction to the heterologous carrier. Local plasmacytopoiesis resulting from delayed reactions may be significant in the pathogenesis of cell-mediated allergic injury.
