A Study of the Sera of Rabbits Immunized Against Globulins from Human Sera

[摘要] A study of globulins precipitated from human sera was recently made in this laboratory. During that time 2 rabbits were given 3 injections of the resuspended globulins at intervals of four days each.Complement fixation tests two days after the last injection showed complete inhibition of hemolysis in the serum control tubes. Since the sera of these rabbits had been carefully tested previous to immunization and had shown no inhibition of complementary activity either with several antigens or in the control tubes, these results were regarded with interest.Repeated complement fixation tests proved that the rabbits retained this property for about ten days after the last injection of globulin when it could no longer be demonstrated and the serum control tubes were completely hemolysed.Several explanations of these phenomena suggested themselves.
