Orientation of Antigen-Antibody Specificity in Monomolecular Films

[摘要] A technic for studying the orientation of reaction-specificity in monofilms of complex proteins has been developed. It consists in estimating the degree of antigen-antibody reaction at the two faces of deposited monofilms by comparison of specific bacterial adsorption in the two cases.Application of the procedure has, in the case of a specific streptococcal agglutinogen (nucleoprotein), demonstrated that the deposited monofilms are not only immunologically active, but that there is a definite orientation of specificity toward antisera correlated with structural orientation.
