Failure of Mumps Virus to Inactivate Agglutinogens M, N and Rho (D) of Human Red Cells

[摘要] It was found that even intense treatment with mumps virus did not cause inactivation of M and N agglutinogens in human red cells, though this was brought about by influenza viruses. Such treatment was found not to damage Rho (D) agglutinogen, which is contrary to an earlier report (8). The implications of these observations are discussed as well as different factors capable of inactivating virus receptors and blood group agglutinogens.
