Immunochemical Study of the Enzymatic Degradation of Human Serum Albumin: An Analysis of the Antigenic Structure of a Protein Molecule
[摘要] 1. 1. The antigenic structure of human serum albumin has been studied by the aid of enzymatic digestion. The presence on the albumin molecule of two main types of antigenic determinants reacting with multiple antibodies has been demonstrated.2. 2. These antigenic determinants are separated in different ways depending on the enzymes and the conditions used. Trypsin does not split human serum albumin into different precipitating components; chymotrypsin splits it into two different precipitating components; pepsin, similarly to rabbit spleen extract, splits it into three different precipitating components. Chymotrypsin at pH 4.5 splits the molecule into three precipitating components which are different from these obtained after pepsic digestion.3. 3. The enzyme in rabbit spleen extracts responsible for the splitting of the antigenic structure of human serum albumin has been demonstrated to be similar to cathepsin A.
