Precipitin Production in Chickens

[摘要] Soluble antigen-antibody complexes containing bovine serum albumin (BSA) and its specific chicken antibody have been examined electrophoretically and ultracentrifugally. In electrophoresis at pH 8.6, there appeared two well-defined antigen-antibody complex peaks, in contrast to the BSA-rabbit anti-BSA system, Where only one peak appeared under similar conditions. By differential antigen-antibody precipitations in 1% and 8% NaC1, it was possible to partially fractionate these two peaks. Furthermore, the precipitin reaction of chicken antiserum in 8% NaCl solution was shown to be specific. Our tentative conclusion is that two electrophoretically distinguishable types of antibody exist in this chicken antibody system. Quantitative analyses of these electrophoresis patterns lead us to suggest that the binding of BSA by chicken antibody is relatively weak compared to rabbit antibody.
