The Quantitative Precipitin Reaction of Type 19 M Protein Antigen of Group A Streptococci and Antistreptococcal Rabbit Sera

[摘要] The quantitative precipitin technique has been employed to study the reaction of the M protein antigen of type 19 streptococci and its antibody in antistreptococcal rabbit sera. The specificity of the reaction was found to be dependent upon appropriate absorption of the antistreptococcal sera. The details of the absorption methods, the characteristics of the M antigen-antibody reaction, and the basis of its application to the estimation of type 19 antibody in weight units in antistreptococcal sera are presented.
