Allotypic Specificities in Four Strains of Inbred Mice as Revealed by Reciprocal Immunizations

[摘要] Reciprocal immunizations among four strains of inbred mice with their respective γ-globulin protein (in antigen-antibody complexes) was performed to determine allotypic specificity. In agreement with the reports of others, the isoprecipitin responses showed that strains A/Rl, C3H/R1 and DBA/Rl could be classified as having the γ-globulin allotype MuAsa1; and strain C57Bl/Rl, allotype MuAsa2. A new allotype, common to strains A/R1 and C3H/R1 but absent from strains DBA/R1 and C57B1/R1, was found and has tentatively been classified as MuAsb1. The results of isoimmunization and heteroimmunization with murine antigen-antibody complexes revealed more than one serum protein to participate in the in vitro antigen-antibody reaction. Discussion is given on the technical procedures of isoimmunization, and on the methods of assaying isoprecipitin response, particularly the value and limitations of the tannic acid hemagglutination test for allotypic differentiation.
