Some Molecular Characteristics of Blocking Antibodies in Human Brucellosis

[摘要] The blocking antibody in human brucellosis was isolated from the serum of a male suffering of a chronic brucellar abscess. It proved to be a 5.8 S protein with a molecular weight near 180,000 and probably constitutes an asymmetric molecule. It migrated as a β2-(γ1)-globulin and was precipitated by specific anti-β2A rabbit sera, but not by anti-γ globulin serum. The measurement of amino acids also supports its classification within the β2A (γ1A) group of globulins. Its carbohydrate contents are similar to those found in 7 S γ2-globulins.
