Rate Studies in Immune Hemagglutination
[摘要] The immune agglutination of red cells was examined on the basis of rates. It was shown that the rate of red cell aggregation can be determined from the free cell concentration with a model B Coulter Counter. The rate of this reaction was shown to be dependent on antibody concentration, cell concentration, temperature and speed of mechanical mixing. Sensitization and aggregation were shown to occur as consecutive reactions. The relationship of the rate of red cell aggregation to temperature was examined in terms of the Arrhenius equation. This relationship (slope of Arrhenius plot) was independent of speed of mechanical mixing and antiserum concentration. It was also shown that the rate-temperature relationship varied between antisera with the same blood group specificity.
