Studies on the Reversibility of the Antigen-Antibody Reaction

[摘要] 1. 1. Type III pneumococci sensitized with homologous rabbit antiserum show decreased capsular swelling upon exposure to homologous polysaccharide. This reversal of capsular swelling is type-specific.2. 2. Following the loss of capsular swelling, the washed suspensions may exhibit swelling again upon exposure to homologous but not to heterologous antiserum.3. 3. Treatment of sensitized type III pneumococci with type III carbohydrate leads to an increase in mouse-infectivity.4. 4. The mechanism of these reactions is discussed.
