An Electrophoretic Examination of Several Antipneumococcic Rabbit Sera

[摘要] Electrophoretic and chemical analyses have been made of sera taken from a number of rabbits before and during various stages of their hyperimmunization with type 1 pneumococci. Consideration of these analyses throws light upon such questions as 1) the degree of globulin separation achieved by the usual salting-out procedure, 2) the parallelism between electrophoretic and chemical analyses of antibody-content, 3) the possibility of a non-specific, as well as a specific, globulin response to immunization, 4) the possibility of a non-specific anamnestic response, and 5) the influence of the antibody content of a serum upon the purity of the concentrate that can be prepared from it.
