The Chemovaccinotherapeusis of Experimental Meningococcus Infection

[摘要] The investigations of Professor Belonovsky have shown that chemical substances in combination with a specific vaccine, injected into the diseased organism, have been transported to the focus of disease by the vaccine, reaching it under the influence of a positive chemotaxis.In the present study the possibility of a chemovaccinotherapeusis of experimental meningococcus infections has been investigated.Florand and Fiessinger have already applied the combination of vaccine and chemical substances to the treatment of meningitis, but their iodine-vaccine had no chance of success, as iodine forms a very firm combination with protein.In my investigations optochin was employed as the chemotherapeutic substance. Optochin is capable in great dilution of inhibiting the growth of meningococcus in vitro and it has been used successfully in the treatment of meningitis by means of lumbar injection (Friedement and Bardachzi).Some experiments were undertaken to determine the bactericidal power of optochin for the culture, which had been chosen for the tests.
