The Antigenic Composition of Cryptococcus Neoformans

[摘要] Procedures for the isolation and purification of the capsular polysaccharide(S) of Cryptococcus neoformans were described.The antigenic relationships among capsular polysaccharides of C. neoformans , Types A, B, and C were studied by means of the precipitin test. Results of typing by this method are analogous to those obtained earlier with the agglutination and capsular reactions.Absorption of antiserum with S of homologous type removed antibodies producing the “capsular reaction” with intact cells. Cross-reacting antibodies were removed from antiserum by absorption with heterologous S.
