Evidence for Dissociation of Titer of Infectious and Antigenic Activity in a Preparation of the Lansing Strain of Poliomyelitis Virus

[摘要] Observations have been reported suggesting the existence of dissociation between infectious titer and antigenic extinction titer, or between concentration of “infectious virus” and of “virus antigen”. The dissociation observed in a preparation of mouse CNS tissue containing the Lansing strain of poliomyelitis is believed to be due to a state of incomplete adaptation to mice of virus adapted to the monkey. The possible implication of the observation recorded is discussed.
