The Adsorptive Behavior of Bacteriophage T2 with Certain Inorganic Materials

[摘要] The adsorptive behavior of T2 bacteriophage to several inorganic adsorbents has been investigated. Displacement was found to be a prominent feature and the bacteriophage could be displaced from columns of aluminum oxide in a predictable manner with meat infusion broth, or with a preparation of bovine serum albumin. The salt concentration was also important; when the sodium chloride was less than 10−2 to 10−3 M, adsorption was markedly decreased, whereas at 10−1 M or above adsorption was marked. Decreased adsorption was also seen at pH values above 8 with some adsorbents.
