Further Experimental Studies on the Rôle of the Plasma Cells As Antibody Producers
[摘要] By intensive immunization of rabbits with a mixture of 8 pneumococcus types the authors have produced a very massive plasma cell infiltration (90 per cent) and a slight lymphocyte infiltration (10 per cent) in the adipose tissue of the renal sinus. Extracts of this adipose tissue of the renal sinus, rich in plasma cells, contain considerable amounts of antibody-protein, essentially more than is found in the extracts of any other organ from these animals. From these findings and from their previous observations employing the same experimental technic the authors advance the hypothesis that antibodies are produced by plasma cells.
