Colorado Tick Fever
[摘要] The mouse brain adapted Florio strain of Colorado tick fever virus was cultivated by yolk-sac passage in the developing chick embryo through 78 generations. The virus multiplied slowly and reached its maximal titer on the 4–5th day after inoculation.Experiments indicated that virus is present in significant amounts only in the central nervous system. The virus retained its virulence for intracerebrally inoculated mice but lost its invasive power for mice and hamsters inoculated parenterally. The virus introduced parenterally in minimal amounts elicited an immune response in mice which withstood subsequent intracerebral challenge with mouse brain virus. The 37th egg passage of the virus injected subcutaneously into four volunteers caused only minor clinical manifestations and induced the formation of homologous virus-neutralizing antibodies in all four vaccinated individuals.
