The Complement Fixation Test in Yellow Fever Epidemiology
[摘要] The preparation of a “globulin antigen” for use in yellow fever complement fixation tests is described. This antigen is both sensitive and specific. By its use it has been shown that complement-fixing antibodies are formed with regularity following observed clinical yellow fever infection. It has been shown that these antibodies are formed regardless of the severity of illness and that they appear following inapparent infections in endemic areas. It has been confirmed that they are not formed following yellow fever vaccination, except possibly in rare instances. The application of the complement fixation test to yellow fever epidemiology, as an indicator of recent infections, is discussed.
