Antibody Formation in Zwoegerziekte, a Slow Infection in Sheep
[摘要] Zwoegerziekte, a slow infection in Dutch sheep, appears to be similar to maedi and visna in Iceland. The disease is induced by a persistent virus infection. The sera of experimentally infected sheep were examined using the neutralization test in tissue culture, the complement fixation test and the indirect immunofluorescence technique. Antibodies were detected within a few weeks using the technique of indirect immunofluorescent staining or the complement-fixation test, whereas neutralizing antibodies appeared much later after experimental infection. From that time on the sera were positive with all three serologic techniques for an experimental period of three years.
