Persistent Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis Viral Infection
[摘要] Mice naturally infected transplacentally with lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus carry high titers of virus in their blood and tissues, make anti-viral antibody, and develop an associated chronic disease. The virus travels in the circulation in virus-IgG-complement(C) complexes. A study of the renal glomeruli of such transplacentally infected mice showed the presence of viral antigen, C3 and Ig at birth, and a progressive accumulation of virus-Ig complexes that led to death from glomerulonephritis in some mice by 2 weeks of age.
