Use of Refined Serum Albumin As a Nutrient for T. Pallidum
[摘要] Refined serum albumin has been identified as the important nutrient that has previously made animal fluids indispensable in the cultivation of Treponema pallidum . By using liver preparations together with serum albumin, we were able to maintain the spirochete continuously on serum-free media. T. pallidum could be cultivated for a limited number of transfers in media containing choline chloride, niacin, pantothenate, pyridoxine, riboflavin, thiamin, and ascorbic acid as a substitute for liver.
