The Cutaneous Reaction of Rabbits to Pneumococcal Vaccines and Its Neutralization by Specific Antisera
[摘要] 1. 1. Vaccines, made from young cultures of pneumococci evoke an infiltration in the skin or rabbits when injected intracutaneously in comparatively small quantities. The irritating substance is heat labile, and loses activity as the cultures grow older. S-substance does not cause a similar reaction.2. 2. This reaction is prevented specifically when antipneumococcal serum is injected simultaneously with the vaccine. The neutralization is strictly type-specific and allows a quantitative estimation of the antibody content within a range of ±20 per cent.
