The Effect of Certain Chemicals on Rickettsia Typhi Infections in Chick Embryos

[摘要] 1. 1. Three hundred fifteen compounds were tested for rickettsiostatic activity against endemic typhus infections of chick embryos.2. 2. Twenty-five of these substances significantly delayed death of the embryos.3. 3. Several compounds related to para-aminobenzoic acid were effective; otherwise there was little correlation between rickettsiostasis and chemical structure.4. 4. Penicillin fractions showed activity decreasing in the following order: penicillin X > dihydro-F > K > G.5. 5. Cysteine inhibited the rickettsiostatic activity of penicillin G.
