Cellular Changes in Rabbits During Antibody Formation
[摘要] 1. 1. Nonspecific inflammation induced by turpentine does not result in a cellular pattern in lymph nodes similar to that produced by the single injection of certain protein antigens.2. 2. The cellular response that follows a single injection of bovine albumin consists of a definite procession of cellular hyperplasia in lymph nodes as follows: neutrophil, lymphoblast, plasma cell, and large lymphocyte. Antibodies appear in the blood serum immediately after the appearance of hyperplasia of lymphoblasts and coincidental with the peak of plasma cell hyperplasia.3. 3. Upon continued antigen stimulation, reticulum cell hyperplasia occurs, going on to giant cell reaction. A concomitant decrease in lymphoid cells is observed.4. 4. Withdrawal of antigen allows a return to normal histological structure in the lymph nodes.5. 5. A sensitive morphologic technic for the recognition of antibody formation in lymph nodes of rabbits is available.
