Competition between L- and D-Synthetic Copolymers at the Level of the Macrophage
[摘要] Synthetic copolymers composed of l or d amino acids exhibit differential binding ability to the unique ribonucleoprotein (RNP) of peritoneal macrophage cells. The l-copolymers are bound eight to ten times as well as the d-copolymers. Despite the low level of binding of the d-copolymers, these compounds are capable of suppressing the binding of the l-copolymers to the RNP molecule. This effect appears to depend on the resistance of these polymers to catabolism as well as their high negative charge.
