Some Cellular Reactions and Immunity in Tuberculosis
[摘要] Inasmuch as tuberculosis occurs and becomes progressive in both allergic animals and those of primary infection, despite the fact that in both the tubercule bacilli are ingested by the polymorphonuclear leucocyte, it has long been believed that the polymorphonuclear cell serves merely as a vehicle for the transport of the organisms throughout the body. That this view is still held is clearly shown by certain statements made in the recently published Tuberculosis in Man and Animals by Calmette (1). An increasing number of publications, particularly abundant during the past few years, suggest that this theory should not go unchallenged. The various papers of Sabin and her co-workers (2) are particularly pertinent in this connection. These contributions have dealt with the cytology of the fluids of the animal body and have considered not only the cellular picture in the normal animal but also the changes following the inoculation of various substances.
