Serologic Studies of the Neuraminidases of Vibrio Cholerae, Diplococcus Pneumoniae and Influenza Virus

[摘要] Antisera were developed in rabbits to preparations of the neuraminidases of Vibrio cholerae and Diplococcus pneumoniae , and to influenza PR-8 virus. Neutralization of the neuraminidases of these organisms was studied by the methods of hemagglutination-inhibition, precipitin reaction, electrophoresis, and neuraminic acid release from α1-glycoprotein. Neutralization of bacterial and viral enzyme activity by homologous antisera followed typical enzyme-antibody neutralization patterns. No evidence of serologic cross-reactivity was found between either the two bacterial neuraminidases, or the bacterial and viral neuraminidases by any of the methods employed.
