The Continuous Injection of Antigen in Sensitized Dogs
[摘要] Experiments with anaphylactic shock are usually made by the relatively rapid injection of antigen into the sensitized animal. Under such conditions a maximum dose immediately comes into contact with the tissues and elimination begins rather promptly. While such conditions occur clinically, it would seem that the continuous injection of the antigen might simulate more nearly the effects that we observe under clinical conditions of sensitization. We have accordingly carried out a series of experiments on sensitized dogs in which we have injected the antigen intravenously with the Woodyatt Pump over a considerable period of time.Experimental. The animals were sensitized by three successive daily injections of egg albumin, the reinjection being made after an interval of two weeks. The thoracic duct was incannulated under local anesthesia and observations made on blood pressure, muscle and rectal temperature, peripheral leukocytes, lymph and blood sugar, lymph volume, protein, CO2 combining power, calcium and potassium.
