The Use of Phenolized Allantoic Fluid Antigen in the Complement Fixation Test for Psittacosis

[摘要] Satisfactory complement fixation antigens for psittacosis have been prepared by a simple method from the allantoic fluid of the developing chick embryo infected with Miyagawanella psittaci . Phenol is added to a concentration of one per cent to the infected allantoic fluid which is permitted to stand at 4 C for several days. This is centrifuged and the sediment resuspended in one fifth of the original volume of 0.85 per cent sodium chloride solution. The addition of small amounts of fresh yolk and lecithin appears to increase the potency of the antigen.
