Induced and Spontaneous Recurrent Parasitemia in Chronic Infections with Avirulent Strains of Toxoplasma Gondii

[摘要] Parasitemia was shown to occur spontaneously in animals chronically infected with certain strains of Toxoplasma. This was demonstrated in mice, rabbits, and guinea pigs, but not in rats infected with the Toxoplasma strains tested. This parasitemia was found to persist in the presence of high antibody titers and in animals showing resistance to challenge with a virulent strain of Toxoplasma.
