Bacteriophage Neutralizing Activity of Fragments Derived from Rabbit Immunoglobulin by Papain Digestion
[摘要] Fragments of IgG derived from antiphage IgG retain phage neutralization activity upon papain digestion. However, only about 10% to 20% of the globulin activity remains and, for phage T2, more than one antibody fragment is required to neutralize the phage. While Fabfragment II has more activity than Fab-fragment I, it is suggested that phage binding by Fab I and II may be about equal. The variation in phage neutralizing activity of Fab I and Fab II is not evident in the neutralizing activity of the parent IgG class which gives Fab I or Fab II, but must arise upon digestion.
