EDITORIAL NOTE

[摘要] THIS ISSUE of Pediatrics contains a preponderance of articles on rheumatic fever most of which have been submitted for publication spontaneously in recent months. A few items were solicited to illustrate the broad point of view characteristic of modern pediatrics. This material indicates some current trends in the sustained effort to conquer one of the major crippling diseases and, meanwhile, to alleviate the suffering and sequellae. All aspects of the attack are not represented because it seemed preferable to provide new original material rather than add to the comprehensive reviews which appear regularly in the literature. The subject matter extends from immediately applicable knowledge to explorations at the frontier.
