ABSORPTION OF ISOHEMAGGLUTININS IN THE NEWBORN

[摘要] Nineteen babies were fed human sera containing anti-A, B, or D (Rho) isohemagglutinins. Preliminary experiments indicated that if 1 unit of isohemagglutinin per ml. of a baby's plasma volume is injected intravenously, this can be detected for at least 16 hours after its introduction.The babies were fed and retained 34 to 978 units of isohemagglutinin per ml. of plasma volume. Only in the blood of the baby fed the highest amount could absorption be demonstrated, the fraction absorbed being about 0.10 per cent of the amount fed.
