THE SERUM PROTHROMBIN CONSUMPTION TEST IN INFANCY AND CHILDHOOD

[摘要] This study of 101 children ranging in age from newborn to 13 years indicates that time serum prothrombin consumption test is of value in the examination of the coagulation system of children and newborn infants. The values obtained from the study of the blood of adults seem applicable to children. It is interesting to note that those factors in the mechanism of coagulation measured by the serum prothrombin consumption test are as completely developed at birth as in adult life. The ease of performance of this test with commercially available reagents places the test within reach of any well-equipped laboratory and facilitates the study of coagulation defects.
