A CONTROLLED CLINICAL TRIAL OF EFFECTS OF WATER MIST ON OBSTRUCTIVE RESPIRATORY SIGNS, DEATH RATE AND NECROPSY FINDINGS AMONG PREMATURE INFANTS

[摘要] A controlled clinical trial was designed to study the effects of nebulized water mist as compared with standard operating conditions (90 to 100 per cent relative humidity) upon respiratory symptoms, death rate and necropsy findings among premature infants in the first 72 hours of life. Two hundred infants were studied in the premature nursery the Babies Hospital over a 10-month period of time. There was no practical beneficial effect that could be credited to nebulized water-mist therapy of these infants.
