POLIOMYELITIS IN A FAMILY WITH OCCURRENCE OF LOCALIZED PARALYSIS AFTER INOCULATION WITH COMBINED DIPHTHERIA, PERTUSSIS, TETANUS VACCINE

[摘要] The simultaneous occurrence of paralytic poliomyelitis in 3 of 5 siblings, all of whom had been recently injected with DPT vaccine, is described. Attention is directed to the possible provoking effect of the antigen injection to development as well as site of paralysis. However, failure of the other 2 siblings to develop paralytic disease also indicates that recent injection of antigen is not the sole determining factor in the development of paralysis under the circumstances described. Laboratory data are also presented.
