[摘要] Attention is directed to these Leonard Parsons' lectures on a familiar topic because of the uncommon treatment of the subject. The many interesting and significant facets of growth and development are portrayed in a scholarly and dynamic review. The material presented should be essential reading for the beginner in pediatrics, helpful to those reviewing for examinations, and will re-awaken the interest of the established pediatrician in a subject which is apt to be viewed as dull even though its importance is admitted. The many areas requiring additional investigation are indicated. The relationship of fundamental knowledge to the daily care of patients is apparent. Of particular interest is the account of the recent investigations in the realm of physiologic growth and development.
