THE TREATMENT OF ALLERGY WITH EXTRACT OF TOXICODENDRON QUERCIFOLIA: A CONTROLLED SERIES

[摘要] A controlled study, using the doubleblind placebo method, has been utilized to evaluate the effects of administration of an extract of Toxicodendron quercifolia in the treatment of allergic patients. Thirty children received the extract and 26 received comparable injections of normal saline. Six weeks after the onset of treatment the children were re-evaluated. No statistically significant difference between the groups could be ascertained.A most important corollary to this study has been the number of patients who improved while receiving placebo. Attention is called to the great "healing powers" inherent in the positive attitude of the doctor treating allergy, above and beyond the mode of treatment being used.
