[摘要] During the past four years, venture capitalists have feverishly invested millions of dollars in start-ups with names such as Neurogen, Cephalon and Neurex, hoping to cash in on medicine's moonshot—treating brain maladies such as Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia and depression.Large U.S. drug companies also are placing big bets. Between 1983 and 1987, the industry's annual research spending on brain and nerve disorders almost doubled to more than $640 million, according to the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, a trade group.
