HOMELY DUCK STIRS UP THE WRATH OF TIDY SUBURBIA

Muscovies are accused of everything from desecrating swimming pools, to frightening children and pets, to messing up sidewalks and lawns.The Muscovy duck is guilty of an even greater sin—homeliness. Reverse the happy ending of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Ugly Duckling," and you have the life story of the Muscovy. Cuddly at birth, it matures to be fat—some weigh in at 15 pounds—with dull feathers and a hunk of red wart-like skin covering its face.
