CAN THE NEW PEDIATRICS BE PRACTICED?

[摘要] WITHOUT "putting an ear to the ground," one can hear vague rumblings of discontent with the practice of pediatrics, not just from those still under the spell of their recent education. Could it be that the skills of pediatricians have reached a degree of excellence which cannot be put into practice simply because the public is not prepared to pay the price? Can "comprehensive care," including mental hygiene, be dispensed hurriedly in visits kept brief by economic necessity? What can be expected but frustration and disappointment if what one is allowed to do does not keep pace with that which one believes should be done?
