NEW PROGRAM OF HEALTH EDUCATION

[摘要] IN KEEPING with the tradition established in Pediatrics, I am exercising the privilege of the President of providing copy for an Editorial of special interest to Academy members. It gives me pleasure to report on a development which has been under consideration by the Executive Board and special committees of the Academy for some 9 or 10 years and which has now become a reality.Eight years ago, a committee served for 3 years trying to solve the problem of public relations as well as lay education. Unable to obtain at that time the necessary funds they felt were needed, this committee was disbanded at its own request. The problem was again attacked by a committee directed by a past president of the Academy and under a new name, the Committee on Health Information. This committee studied the problem from various angles with great vigor but again were unable to resolve the problem because of inability to obtain funds for a full-time staff necessary to carry out the assigned task. It was felt by the Executive Board that the membership should not be subjected to an increase in dues to support this project.
