STUDIES ON KETOSTEROIDS IN URINE OF NORMAL CHILDREN USING ALUMINA CHROMATOGRAPHIC FRACTIONATION

[摘要] Patterns of urinary excretion of ketosteroids in eight normal children, four males and four females, ranging in age from 3 to 5 years, were determined by alumina chromatography. The method has also been applied to urines of five normal adults.The patterns of excretion in these boys and girls were alike.Comparison of patterns of excretion of children with those of normal adults reveals important differences. There is a relatively lower excretion of androsterone and etiocholanolone. The 11-oxy l7-ketosteroid excretion is percentage-wise the same in children as in adults. There is a relative increase in other unidentified ketosteroid metabolites.
