Staphylococcal Infections in an Obstetric Unit. I. Epidemiological Studies of Pyoderma Neonatorum
[摘要] An epidemic in a newborn nursery is reported in which 46% of the infants became infected with staphylococcus aureus; a single strain was isolated from 65% of the patients. During the course of the investigation, it became apparent that neither the mothers nor the nursery personnel were primarily responsible for the spread of the organism among the infants. The authors concluded from convincing evidence that the spread of the infection seemed to be from infant to infant, aerial transmission playing an important role.
