STANDARDS FOR ORDINAL SCALES

[摘要] Ordinal scales are frequently used in clinical trials to quantify outcomes which are non-dimensional [for example 1+ to 4+ system for assessing peripheral oedema].... Guidelines for construction and utilisation of ordinal scales as measures of outcome in clinical trials have not been formulised. In this paper a set of standards are developed.
