THE ADVANCE OF CHROMATOGRAPHY

[摘要] THE advances in pediatrics, like those in medicine as a whole, can usually be traced to some new development in technique, the significance of which is often appreciated only in retrospect. The discovery of the microscope was not heralded as the prelude to the study of microbiology or microscopic anatomy and pathology. The pediatrician who today gives DPT routinely to his young patient seldom stops to think of the debt he owes to Pasteur, the father of immunology. It is the same with advances in chemistry, and one can think of many other examples in which a new technique has proved immensely useful in the understanding and treatment of disease.
