THE SIGNIFICANCE OF MILK ANTIBODIES
[摘要] THE paper by Rothberg and Farr in this issue raises again the problem of the significance of cow's milk antibodies in the sera of children. The early studies of Schloss and others demonstrated that antibodies to cow's milk proteins could be detected in the blood of infants fed cow's milk. This finding was observed more frequently in babies with diarrhea and directed interest toward the permeability of the bowel to unaltered protein molecules and to the effect of disease upon this process. It was recognized that some infants were intolerant to cow's milk and certain of them appeared to have a true allergy to cow's milk proteins.
